Our Origin Story
Real Estate is Changing Fast: We Couldn't Be More Excited
The old model — access, transactions, generic marketing, more-is-more listing copy — is cracking in real time. Buyers are smarter. Sellers are more informed. Attention spans are shorter. Expectations are higher. And in a city like New Orleans, where homes carry history, personality, and emotional weight, treating every property the same no longer works.

That’s where Cool Murphy came from.
We were drawn to this industry because it was overdue for change. Not cosmetic change. Foundational change. The kind that asks better questions about how homes are prepared, positioned, marketed, experienced, and ultimately understood.

Over time, our role evolved beyond traditional brokerage. Today, Cool Murphy operates more like a private client advisory and creative studio built around real estate. We help sellers prepare homes strategically, not performatively. We study buyer psychology. We test positioning. We build launch plans. We obsess over presentation because buyers don’t experience homes as spreadsheets — they experience them emotionally.

That philosophy eventually became a book, Prepped to Sell, and a larger body of work around how thoughtful preparation, storytelling, pricing, and media strategy can materially change outcomes.

We believe in the future of real estate
We believe the future of real estate belongs to advisors, interpreters, marketers, negotiators, creatives, and strategists — not door openers. The industry is being reshaped in real time by technology, AI, shifting consumer expectations, and access to information. We’re not resisting that shift. We’re helping chart the course forward.
We also believe you can take the work seriously without taking yourself too seriously. Homes are emotional. Moving is personal. Historic houses are complicated. New Orleans is unlike anywhere else. The process should feel thoughtful, honest, intelligent, and, occasionally, even dare we say, enjoyable.
