About the event
📅 Behind the Shutters: New Orleans’ First Skyline
Mark your calendars: Wednesday, August 13 | 6–8 pm

Cool Murphy is bringing Behind the Shutters back to where New Orleans’ skyline first began to rise.
Our fourth Behind the Shutters event invites you inside The Alexander at 336 Camp Street, located in what was once Faubourg St. Marie—the city’s first suburb and the birthplace of the Central Business District. In the mid-1800s, these blocks became known as Newspaper Row, home to presses, newsrooms, and the bustling energy that built New Orleans’ first skyline.
We’ll begin with a toast in the cool comfort of our Studio at The Alexander, during which Historic Home Expert Craig Ernst will guide us through the neighborhood's origins and layered past, which still echo the city's publishing heyday. Next we'll view the building and celebrate upstairs in the Alexandre's exclusive penthouses.
