Deck the Dogs: A Holiday Dog Parade Supporting Take Paws Rescue in New Orlean

Deck the Dogs was hot. Unseasonably hot. Not exactly sweater weather.

But the dogs did not care. And honestly, neither did we.

Ugly Christmas sweaters were worn with pride. Some dogs strutted. Some dogs wilted. We all made do. It was one of those New Orleans mornings where you shrug, grab a water, and keep going.

We gathered at Bark Market with neighbors, friends, and a whole lot of tail wagging, all in support of Take Paws Rescue. The goal was simple: have fun, raise some funds, and help dogs still looking for their people get seen.

Mission very much accomplished.

Sit. Stay. Strut.

There was a doggy fashion show. There were doggy portraits. There were dogs who understood the assignment and dogs who absolutely did not.

Treats were handed out. Compliments were given freely. Every dog was told they were the best dog, because obviously.

It was joyful. A little chaotic. Exactly right.

A Familiar Face on TV (For a Very Good Cause)

This wasn’t our first time teaming up with Take Paws.

Last year, we joined Take Paws on TV to launch a very special listing tied directly to supporting their mission. It was one of those moments where real estate, community, and a good cause lined up exactly the way we hope they do.

Second Line Energy

After portraits, treats, and plenty of sniffing, we took things on the road.

We second-lined our way to Petite Clouet, dogs in tow, some people in tow behind their dogs if we’re being honest, lol. At Petite Clouet, a very special reception awaited. Neighbors and friends and fans of the pups clapped to receive u,s and an art and gift market was waiting for us, along with live music and very good vibes. Coffee for the humans. Water for the pups. A perfect landing spot after a morning taken in stride.

By the time we wrapped up, it felt like we’d packed an entire season’s worth of joy into one morning.

Best in Show: Community

Deck the Dogs wasn’t about perfection. It was about showing up. A first of its kind. A first for us as well. And something we can’t wait to do again?

Why? We love supporting a cause we care about. Letting dogs be dogs. And spending a few hours outside with people who believe that home matters, whether you’re walking on two legs or four.
